Angel of Salvation – Poetry from Uzbekistan
A cry awoke within my young girl’s heart,
I stood bewildered by the trials of fate,
How heavy it is to lean on grief and smart,
Amidst my tears, my soul was desolate.

ANGEL OF SALVATION
A cry awoke within my young girl’s heart,
I stood bewildered by the trials of fate,
How heavy it is to lean on grief and smart,
Amidst my tears, my soul was desolate
No strength remained to walk the path of health,
The endless nights denied my eyes their sleep,
To the Creator alone, I poured my wealth
Of sorrow, as the painful days ran deep
Led by a spark of hope, I came in haste,
To that wide, luminous cradle you design
When my heart’s burdens grew too great to waste,
The door of rescue opened, a saving sign
My fragile body seemed a mournful spring,
When the endometrial lining wore so thin.
“Four millimeters,” you kept measuring,
My hope dissolved entirely from within
“This frail foundation will grow, have faith, be strong,
“You spoke, with a mother’s love so deep and true,
Finding a healing balm in your words all along,
The ice around my heart soon melted through
A beautiful and patient cure began,
Grief and lamenting left my weary frame,
Within each medicine, a healing ran,
The will to fight subdued the painful game
Two and a half months quickly slipped away,
My weight decreased, my body filled with grace,
Filtering the patience taught by dark delay,
Destiny finally smiled and showed its face
Today, I came into your presence once more,
Looking into your eyes with joy so bright,
A miracle took place, God knows the score,
I bow my head to your words of light
That fragile lining, once four millimeters small,
Has grown to nine, now standing proud and tall!
The moment I beheld that healthy sign,
Peace found this wounded, weary heart of mine
This is no simple number, no mere measure,
It is a world reborn, a priceless treasure
A grand, majestic voice gave my body might,
Through you, my soul awoke to brilliant light
A thousand bows to you, my deepest thanks I send,
You gave me back my health, my guide and friend,
Shedding bright light upon my future way,
You turned me to the happiest path today
I weep with joy, my eyes are burning bright,
May you live long and healthy in our sight,
I live rejoicing in your warmth so clear,
Because you live, the world is bright and dear!
(To my dear, kind, and precious doctor sister KAROMATOVA GULNOZA)
