Sindh Home Department assigns Sessions Judge Jacobabad to conduct judicial probe

SSP Shikarpur Amjad Ahmed Shaikh and SSP Larkana Dr. Muhammad Imran Monday visited the family of deceased Saddam Lashari, who was shot dead by the police in an encounter last week and recorded the statements of his parents.

The sisters of Saddam Lashari, holding Holy Quran to both the officials, requested them to provide Justice and demanded the judicial probe instead of investigation by police officials.

Ms. Rashida Lashari and Haseena Lashari, the sisters of Saddam Lashari apprehended that the police investigation team will protect their colleagues.

However, both the SSPs assured them that no one will be spared in the investigation, and efforts will be made to get justice for the relatives.

SSP Amjad Shaikh said that it’s high profile investigation and in this regard IGP Sindh has assigned two senior SSPs to probe the murder of Saddam Lashari.

He said that they had visited the place of reported encounter and recorded the statements of the police as well as Station House Officer.

He said that it’s administrative domain of the SSP Jacobabad to suspend the suspected SHO in murder of Saddam Lashari. He said that they will probe whether it’s a fake or genuine encounter and after the probe they will submit their report with recommendations of departmental and criminal proceeding against the policemen if found guilty.

SSP Amjad Shaikh said that it’s initial stage and after the completion of the investigation they will determine the accused.

The girls told investigation team that police shot dead their brother in fake encounter and same police is probing it, which is not fair.

Mushtaq Khoso, a friend present at the time of Saddam Lashari’s arrest, told the investigation team that the policemen led by the SHO Ghualam Nabi Bijarani had forcibly taken away Saddam Lashari.

Meanwhile Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah taking notice of the murder of Saddam Lashari had ordered the Home Department to hold judicial inquiry. The home department, following the orders of the CM, wrote a letter to District and Sessions Judge Jacobabad to probe the incident within 30 days, while ordered DC Jacobabad and SSP Jacobabad to extend all possible cooperation in the conduct of judicial enquiry.

It has also been reported that SSP Jacobabad had suspended SHO Abad Police Station of Thulh Sher Muhammad Leghari and SHO Jacobabad Ghulam Nabi Bijarani, the suspects in the killing of Saddam Lashari in a fake police encounter.

The civil society organizations continued holding protest demonstrations in Jacobabad, Thulh and other cities against the killing of youth Saddam Hussain S/o Mughul Lashari.
