Kyrgyzstan has digitalized its tourism industry by launching another online platform for tourists, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan, Zhazgul Kiyizbaeva, said.
The Population Registration Department of Kyrgyzstan provides foreign citizens with the opportunity to register through its website, which was created to simplify the process. The host party has personal accounts where each foreigner registers by providing necessary information about themselves.
Now, tourists arriving in Kyrgyzstan are required to not only fill out corresponding forms but also have their picture taken with a webcam during the registration process. If the facial recognition upon entry matches the photograph, the tourist can proceed with the procedure.
The primary goal of this initiative is to eliminate corruption risks and accelerate the transition to digital service. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic in collaboration with the State Committee for National Security and the Tourism Development Support Fund.
