The Shah Latif Institute of North America (SLI-NA) hosted a gathering in Houston, Texas, bringing together local political leaders and the Sindhi community to honor their cultural heritage and discuss community concerns.
Houston, Texas: The Shah Latif Institute of North America (SLI-NA) organized a dignified gathering with the Sindhi community of Houston. The distinguished guests of the event included Greg Barnes, Chairman of the Fort Bend Republican Party; Former Texas State Representative Jacey Jetton and Ken Williams.
The event commenced with an introduction to the Shah Latif Institute of North America by SLI-NA General Secretary Shabbir Jatoi, who also introduced the distinguished guests attending the gathering.
On the occasion, SANA General Secretary Asad Ali Shaikh, SLI-NA President Dr. Essa Bhurgri, and Shafqat Dahri presented the distinguished guests—Greg Barnes, Former Texas State Representative Jesse Jetton, and Ken Williams—with the traditional Ajrak, symbols of Sindh’s rich cultural heritage.
The Chairman and Founder of the Shah Latif Institute of North America and host of the event, Mahmud Dahri, welcomed the distinguished guests and presented them with the traditional Sindhi ajrak and honorary shields as tokens of appreciation.
Addressing the gathering, SLI-NA Chairman and Founder Mahmud Dahri said that the Shah Latif Institute of North America has always been committed to promoting the art, philosophy, and message of the great Sufi poet of Sindh, Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA), and sharing his timeless message with people around the world. He said that SLI-NA would continue its efforts to serve the great thinker Shah Latif, his philosophy, and the people of Sindh.
Speaking further, Mahmud Dahri expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests, participants, and the entire team whose efforts made the occasion memorable.
Addressing the gathering, SANA General Secretary and Sindhi community representative in Texas, Asad Ali Shaikh, emphasized that young people should come forward and represent their community. He urged them to share the issues and concerns of the Sindhi community with local politicians and citizens and to play their role in supporting newly arrived Sindhis in the United States. On the occasion, Asad Ali Shaikh also expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests for attending the gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Talat Talpur shared his views on various issues faced by the Sindhi community and drew the attention of the distinguished guests to these concerns.
At the conclusion of the event, SLI-NA President Dr. Essa Bhurgri thanked the distinguished guests for their participation. Meanwhile, SLI-NA Chairman Mahmud Dahri presented the guests with a commemorative “Certificate of Proclamation” as a token of honor and remembrance.
On this occasion Fahad Junejo and Kashif Soomro also addressed the gathering and shared their views with the distinguished guests regarding the challenges and issues faced by the Sindhi community.
A large number of members of the Sindhi community in Houston attended the memorable evening, including Ghulam Memon, Talat Talpur, Shafqat Dahri, Siddique Dahri, Fahad Junejo, Kashif Soomro, Zaheer Baloch, Mumtaz Chang, Asghar Pathan (Vice President, SANA USA), Saeed Shaikh, Ameer Arsalan Malik, along with prominent business personalities, journalists, writers, poets, and other members of the Sindhi community.
