Speakers pay glowing tribute to academic, research services of distinguished scientist Prof Ali Murtaza Dharejo
JAMSHORO: Sindh University‘s Department of Zoology held a condolence reference to pay glowing tribute to the unwavering academic and research services of distinguished teacher, researcher, scientist and former Professor Dr Ali Murtaza Dharejo with speakers recalling his valuable contributions and lasting impact on generations of students.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Sattar Shah, who chaired the reference, said in his presidential address that Prof. Dharejo had rendered outstanding services to education and research during his long academic career. He described the deceased as a dedicated teacher who remained committed to imparting quality education and developing scientific thinking among students. He said Professor Dharejo’s contribution to zoological sciences and research had strengthened the academic profile of the department. His research-oriented approach, he added, inspired students and young researchers to pursue scientific inquiry with dedication and integrity. Dr Shah further said the deceased would be remembered for his professional commitment, intellectual contribution and services to the University of Sindh.
Chairperson of the Department of Zoology Prof. Dr Riffat Sultana said the late Professor Dharejo had played an important role in promoting academic activities in the department. She said he was a committed teacher who devoted himself to teaching, mentoring and guiding students. “His lectures and academic discussions helped students develop a deeper understanding of zoological sciences”, she added. She said he actively contributed to the academic environment of the department and encouraged students towards research and higher studies. Dr Riffat said his services and affectionate association with colleagues and students would remain a cherished part of the department’s history.
Professor Dr Muhammad Saeed Wagan said Dr Dharejo was a highly capable teacher and researcher who rendered his services to zoology with dedication and integrity. He said the late professor’s academic and research work would continue to serve as a source of guidance for young teachers and students.
Dr Aijaz Kehar said Prof. Dharejo’s teaching style developed a strong interest in learning among students. He said the late professor always treated his colleagues and students with affection and respect, earning a special place in their hearts.
Dr Saeed Awan said Professor Dharejo had made valuable contributions to the advancement of zoological sciences. He said his research and commitment to academic pursuits were a valuable asset to the University’s scholarly traditions.
Dr M.M. Khan said the late professor had academically trained and guided a large number of students through his knowledge, experience and research. He said his death had created a significant void in the academic circles of zoology that would be difficult to fill.
Dr Yousif Shaikh said Professor Dharejo was not only an excellent teacher but also a kind-hearted person who always guided his students. He said his academic services and commitment to research would continue to benefit future generations.
Dr Tahira Jabeen said the late professor had always worked to improve the academic and research abilities of students. She said his kind attitude, academic insight and cordial relations with colleagues would always be remembered.
Dr K.B. Pitafi said Prof Dharejo was a teacher deeply committed to his discipline and profession. He said his teaching and research services constituted an important chapter in the academic history of the Department of Zoology.
Dr Mahmood Soomro said the late professor had always remained committed to transferring his knowledge and experience to students. He said his academic role and affection for students made him a memorable teacher.
Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences Professor Dr Naheed Kaka said the death of Prof. Dharejo was a great loss to the academic community, particularly to the field of zoology. She said his teaching and research services would continue to inspire students and scholars.
The deceased’s son Zahid Murtaza Dharejo expressed gratitude to the University of Sindh and the Department of Zoology for holding the condolence reference in honour of his father. He said his father had devoted a major part of his life to teaching, research and serving his students and institutions. He added that the respect and affection shown by his colleagues, students and alumni were a source of strength for the family and a testimony to his father’s professional and personal legacy.
Muhammad Ali Ghanghro said Prof. Dharejo was a highly respected academic who had left a lasting impression on the Zoology Department through his teaching, research and scholarly services. He said his death had created a profound void among his colleagues, students and alumni.
Collective prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the departed soul and for his elevation to the highest place in Paradise. A large number of senior professors, faculty members, researchers, students and alumni of the Department of Zoology attended the condolence reference. (Press Release)
