Eminent agricultural scientist and breeder Karam Khan Kaleri is supervising the research at university’s Latif Farm

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) is carrying out research work on new varieties along with the expansion of 300 wheat varieties.

To ensure the availability of certified wheat seeds for the farmers of Sindh, the research process is going on in the experimental field of SAU, and the university has planted 300 different wheat varieties for the expansion and to develop new varieties, under the guidance of eminent agricultural scientist and breeder Karam Khan Kaleri.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri visited the experimental field established in Latif Farm of the university on Monday, where he was briefed about more than 25,000 different commodity lines of wheat.

Agricultural scientist Karam Khan Kaleri told the Vice Chancellor that through the crossing of hundreds of domestic and foreign wheat commodities, the best varieties can be prepared through research work according to the climate of the province.

Wheat-Variety-Latif-Farm-Sindh Courier-1“Complaints of rust have been received in different wheat varieties, but this research work will lead to rust-free varieties,” he added.

Dr. Fateh Marri said that this research will lead to the development of high-yielding wheat varieties, which will help to meet the demand of farmers in the province for certified seeds, and the farmers of the country, including Sindh, will benefit from the experience of Karam Khan Kaleri.

Dr. Mujahid Hussain Laghari, Chairman High Power Farms Committee, Dr. Zahoor Hussain Soomro, Chairman Seed Production and Development Center, Dr. Shahnawaz Marri, Jakhro Mumtaz Ahmed, Director Farms and others were also present on this occasion.
