Late Ali Aslam Jafferi served as SHC Judge, Federal Insurance Ombudsman and Director General Sindh Judicial Academy.

Sukkur: A renowned lawyer and retired Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jafferi passed away on Wednesday evening in a private hospital of Karachi where he was admitted due to COVID-19.

He is survived by ailing widow, 2 sons and 3 daughters.

His funeral prayers would be held today (Thursday) at Masajid and Imambargah Babul Alim North Nazimabad Karachi and will be laid to rest in Wadi-e-Hussain graveyard in Karachi.

Ali Aslam Jafferi, born on October 13, 1943, received education at Khairpur and Sukkur, passed L.L.B. from Sindh University in 1964 and secured 3rd position. He was enrolled as an advocate in 1965 at District Court and in High Court in 1972, while in Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1986.

Late Ali Aslam had been teaching law in Khairpur Law College since 1970 and remained as Principal since February 1985 till 9th October 2000 when elevated as Judge of the High Court of Sindh.

He retired on October 12, 2005 and started practice in Supreme Court and teaching in S.M. Law College, Karachi, as well as in Sindh Judicial Academy, Karachi.

He was appointed as First Federal Insurance Ombudsman of Pakistan in 2006 for a period of four years and Director General Sindh Judicial Academy in 2016. He was a visiting Faculty of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Law University, Karachi and Shah Abdul Lateef University Law School Khairpur besides member, Board of Governors and Board of Trustees of NU-FAST Islamabad, SZABIST, Karachi and IBA, Sukkur, and Syndicate of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

During college days, late Ali Aslam was elected as General Secretary of Mumtaz College Students Union. He was an English, Urdu and Sindhi debater. He also took part in social welfare activities and remained as Member/Secretary and President of Rotary Club, Khairpur. Presently, he was Chairman, District Red Crescent Society, Khairpur. Has had travelled India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia U.K. and U.S.A.
