Karachi: The provincial department of Minority Affairs has approved Rs.30 million for granting scholarships to the minority community students of Sindh.

The approval was given by Minister for Minority Affairs Hari Ram Kishori Lal on Wednesday who said that Scholarship Award worth Rs.30 million for the year 2020/2021 would be given to the talented students belonging to the minority community.

He hoped that the scholarship award would encourage promising students.

A few months ago, through an advertisement published in various newspapers, applications were invited from talented students of the minority community from all over Sindh to complete the process of awarding scholarships on the basis of open merit.

On the instructions of minister, cheques will be distributed among the talented students on the basis of open merit as per the following schedule. According to the details, students of Tharparkar district can receive cheques from Government Girls College Mithi on Sunday June 6; students of Umerkot District can receive cheques from Hindu Community Hall Umerkot on Monday June 7; students of Sanghar District, Shaheed Benazirabad and Nowshero Feroze will be given cheques on Tuesday June 8 at District Council Hall Sanghar; students of Sujawal, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Hyderabad Dadu, Tando Muhammad Khan and Matiari District can receive the cheques from the Assistant Director Minority Affairs, Shahbaz Building, Hyderabad on Thursday June 9 while students of Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Shahdad Kot, Shikarpur, Kashmore and Ghotki districts can receive the cheques from Deputy Director Minority at TMO Sukkur on Thursday June 9.

The merit list is available on the website of the Department of Minority Affairs.  According to the necessary instructions issued by the Department of Minority Affairs, the successful students will have to submit the following documents while receiving the cheques, otherwise they will not be able to get the cheques.

1- National Identity Card / B- Form Attested Copy

2- Copy of educational institution card

3- Copy of last year’s mark sheet or semester

4- Last year’s pass certificate

5- Original certificate of income

  1. All students receiving the cheques must use the mask and follow the SOP recommended by the Sindh government. (PR)
