Sindh Food Authority conducted raids at 5546 milk shops – Annual report presented to the Chief Secretary

Sindh Food Authority has planned to establish its offices at district level in the province. Chief Secretary Sindh, Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, chaired a meeting to review the performance of Sindh Food Authority (SFA) on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Food, Raja Khurram Shehzad, Secretary Services, Khalid Haider Shah, Director General of the Food Authority, Agha Fakhar Hussain, among other participants.
The annual performance report of the Sindh Food Authority was presented in the meeting. As per report, the Food Authority officials conducted inspections of 201 canteens/ hospitals canteens. The Director General of the Sindh Food Authority informed that raids were conducted on 5,546 milk shops and 810 ice factories in the province. Furthermore, 4,087 shops of Chicken/ meat inspected, along with inspections carried out on 2,159 manufacturing units and 9,834 bakeries. In Karachi division alone, inspections of 269 RO plants were conducted, leading to action against 67 non-compliant RO plants.
Chief Secretary emphasized the need for the prompt formulation of service rules of the Food Authority. He directed secretary food and DG SFA to present service rules at the upcoming provincial cabinet meeting. “To enhance technical expertise, the Sindh Food Authority will hire technical staff from the market” Chief Secretary Sindh
Ensuring the provision of quality and unadulterated food items to the public the Chief Secretary Sindh directed SFA to start inspections of essential commodities in all cities of the province. Chief Secretary Sindh further stated that for the establishment of district-level offices of the Sindh Food Authority, suitable land will be provided. (PR)
