A large number of Sindhi families from Bairagarh and Bhopal attended the event

Rich tributes were paid to great Sindhi poet Narayan Shyam at a literary conference held by Sindhu, a cultural organization, at Bairagarh, Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh state, on Saturday July 22, 2023 to celebrate his 101st birth anniversary.

Mr. Nari Lachhwani, Mr. Bhagwan Babani, Mr. Dilip Lalwani, Mr. Kanayo Shewani, Mr. Parsu Nathani, Ms. Shobha Lekhwani and Ms. Darupadi Chandnani were among the eminent poets while emerging poetesses Miss Samiksha Lachhwani, Miss Chitra Chelani and others also presented their poems.

Bairagarh-Bhopal-1The poetry session was followed by musical concert where Madhu Mohnani, Disha Chandwani, Suman Harchandani, Arti Lalwani, Ridhim Asnani and Madhuri Tirki sung the songs and enthralled the audience. A number of Sindhi families from Bairagarh and Bhopal attended the event.

The program was organized in collaboration with Deepmala Pagarani Sanskar Public School Bairagarh and Sahyog Foundation Mumbai.

Bairagarh, renamed as Sant Hirdaram Nagar after the Sindh-born Saint Sant Hirdaram, is home to a large number of Sindhis hailing from Sahiti Pargana of Sindh, where the great poet Narayan Shyam belonged. Sant Hirdaram had migrated from Bhiria, a small town of Sahiti area while Narayan Shyam was born at a nearby village Qasim Khahi.

‘Sindhu’, actively working for promoting Sindhi culture, language and music through various programs since its inception in February 1989, has been celebrating Narayan Shyam’s birthday every year for the last 34 years.
