The agreements were reached during the official visit of the Chairman of the upper house of the Tajikistan parliament and the mayor of Dushanbe to Tehran.

Entrepreneurs from Tajikistan and Iran have signed agreements on cooperation in the manufacturing and processing sectors, bringing nearly $19 million into Tajikistan’s economy, TASS reports.
The agreements were reached during the official visit of the Chairman of the upper house of the Tajikistan parliament and the mayor of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali, to Tehran.
“In order to strengthen bilateral relations between representatives of the private sector, a series of events and dialogues took place during which agreements and contracts for cooperation between representatives of Iran and Tajikistan were signed. To implement the signed cooperation documents in the country’s economy, it is planned to attract more than 1.3 billion somoni (almost $19 million),” the press service of the Tajikistan parliament said in a statement.
It is noted that the agreements aim to expand cooperation in the areas of processing and manufacturing of chemical, textile, construction products, and pharmaceuticals. These will be implemented using Tajikistan’s internal capabilities in collaboration with Iranian partners.
During the two-day official visit of Rustam Emomali to Tehran, he met with the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, the Chairman of the Islamic Council of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other high-ranking officials of the Iranian leadership.
As a result of the negotiations, 15 new documents on inter-parliamentary cooperation, interregional interaction in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, as well as cooperation in the field of production, were signed.
According to the Statistics Agency under the President of Tajikistan, the trade turnover between the countries for the first 11 months of 2023 amounted to over $216 million, showing a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2022. In November 2023, Raisi visited Dushanbe and held talks with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. Following the meeting, 19 new documents were signed, including a plan for the implementation of the cooperation program until 2030.
