The All Pakistan Inter-University Basketball Championship (Zone K) under the co-hosting of the Directorate of Sports of Sindh Agriculture University Tondo Jam and with the support of the Higher Education Commission started here on Wednesday.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri inaugurated by throwing the ball towards the basket at SAU Sports Complex Tando Jam.
Teams from IBA Sukkur, Liaquat Medical University Jamshoro, Mehran Engineering University Jamshoro, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur and host Sindh Agriculture University are competing for title during championship.
The opening match was played between IBA Sukkur and Mehran University, in which Mehran University defeated IBA Sukkur by the score of 48-32. Huzaifa of Mehran University scored 16 and Sohail Ahmed scored 12 baskets, while the second match was played between Sindh Agriculture University and Liaquat Medical University. Sindh Agriculture University won this match, with 36-24 score. Muhammad Rafay of SAU scored 15 and Sameer scored 12 baskets.
Addressing at the opening ceremony Vice Chancellor Dr. Fateh Marri said that Sindh Agriculture University is giving Importance to international games as well as local sports. “Special attention is being paid to healthy activities along with academic and research” he said adding that the day is not far when national level athletes will represent the country from the grounds of Sindh Agriculture University.
On this occasion, Director Sports Anwar Hussain Khanzada gave a briefing to the Vice Chancellor regarding the championship. Consultant Media and Heritage Dr. Mahmood ul Hassan Mughal, Shaukat Hussain Sangi, a large number of teachers and students were present in the ceremony. (PR)
