First ‘UAE Libraries Forum’ to be organized on 9th October

The Emirates Library and Information Association (ELIA) is organizing the first “Emirati Libraries Forum” at the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) headquarters on the 9th and 10th of October next, with the aim of enhancing the role of libraries in promoting culture and knowledge, exploring new horizons in digital transformation and creativity.

This event will feature the participation of several local and international experts in the field of libraries and information to exchange insights and experiences on the latest developments in this vital field. The forum will include numerous panel discussions that will address important topics such as preserving cultural heritage and creative content, the challenges of libraries in smart communities, as well as showcasing digital experiences in libraries and information institutions.

The forum will also include an exhibition of manuscripts showcasing the beauty of cultural heritage, along with a parallel exhibition allowing participating entities to showcase their services and innovative projects, providing an opportunity for networking and idea exchange among professionals in this sector, and sharing the latest innovations and solutions.

Fahad Al Mamari, Chairman of the Board of the Emirates Library and Information Association, emphasized the importance of this forum, stating: “The first Emirati Libraries Forum reflects our deep commitment to supporting and developing libraries as centers of knowledge and culture, especially in the face of the rapid digital transformations witnessed by the world. Through this forum, we aim to provide a platform that brings together experts and practitioners to propose new ideas and discuss effective strategies that ensure the sustainability and development of libraries, serving the Emirati community and enhancing their role as incubators of culture and creativity.”

Al Mamari added: “We hope that this forum will stimulate innovation in this sector and serve as a starting point for future initiatives addressing the challenges currently facing libraries, seeking to enhance cooperation and partnerships among various stakeholders. This forum is part of the efforts of the Emirates Library and Information Association to enhance the role of libraries in Emirati society and work on developing their services to align with the requirements of the modern age.
