The Department of Anthropology & Archaeology, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, organized the Research Fest 2025: Post Fieldwork Seminar on November 25, 2025, celebrating the spirit of discovery, dialogue, and student-led research.

The event showcased final-year undergraduate students presenting their post-fieldwork thesis projects, reflecting on the intersections of anthropology, archaeology, culture, heritage, gender, development, health and the human experience.

Anthropology-Jamshoro-Sindh Courier-2Dr. Abdul Razaque Channa, Chairman of the Department, chaired the session and presented a concept brief on the Research Fest. He emphasized the importance of post-fieldwork research in strengthening research culture and developing analytical and professional skills among students. He remarked that such academic practices prepare graduates for future careers in academia and beyond by nurturing inquiry, documentation, and interpretation skills rooted in field experience.

The event was coordinated and moderated by Madam Zahida, who warmly welcomed the guests, faculty, and students. The presentations included a diverse range of ethnographic and archaeological topics that addressed contemporary social, cultural, gender and environmental issues.

Faculty members including Dr. Muhabat Shah, Dr. Rafiq Wassan, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Madam Umbreen Soomro and Quratulain shared their insights. Dr. Shah appreciated the confidence and clarity shown by the students in presenting their field-based research. Dr. Wassan commended the relevance of the studentsโ€™ research topics, noting their meaningful connection with pressing social issues in contemporary society. Dr. Sunil praised the depth of field engagement, remarking that the studentsโ€™ strong presentations reflect the quality of their fieldwork.

Dr. Razaque Channa concluded the event by appreciating the efforts of coordinator of the event, faculty and students highlighting that such initiatives help cultivate a vibrant research culture within the department โ€” one that bridges classroom learning with community engagement and real-world understanding.
