Institute of Sindhology establishes its online bookshop

Institute also plans to setup online gift shop to sell showpieces pertaining to the Sindhi culture.

The booklovers can place orders through Facebook and WhatsApp; books would be delivered through courier at cheap rates.

The Institute of Sindhology, University of Sindh Jamshoro has established its first ever online bookshop to sell its stock of valuable books to the booklovers who can place orders through the institute’s Facebook page or WhatsApp number.

The booklovers from every nook and corner of the country will be able to purchase the literary as well as informative books published by the Institute of Sindhology from time to time through the easy process of shopping online.

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro inaugurated the online bookshop by cutting the ribbon at the institute. On the occasion, Director Institute of Sindhology Ghulam Murtaza Siyal, Dr. Waheed Jatoi, Zonal Head Leopard Courier Service Sajjad Maqbool and other officials were also present.

After the inauguration, Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro visited the bookshop and also inspected the book warehouse near the bookshop.

Sindhology-Bookshop-Sindh-CourierVice Chancellor suggested making efforts to sell the books of the Institute of Sindhology to libraries and knowledgeable people so that those having literary tastes could benefit from these wonderful books.

He further said that the selected informative books should be published solely on merit in future adding that the stock of enlightening tomes available in Sindhology ought to be sold to the people for their benefit and literary flavor.

Giving a briefing on the occasion, Director Institute of Sindhology Ghulam Murtaza Sial said that the purchase of books from online shops has been made very easy and unproblematic.

He added that the readers can place the orders for the books of their choice by filling out an online form through the institute’s Facebook page or WhatsApp number and the payment will be made upon receipt of the book through the Leopard courier service.

He said that a book stall by the Institute of Sindhology was set up at the funfair organized at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology and another stall was recently set up at the Sindhi Adabi Board during its three-day book fair where the people showed interest in the books published by the institute and bought a lot of books.

Mr. Siyal further said that after the online bookshop, an online gift shop would also be launched in order to sell showpieces pertaining to the Sindhi culture and would be delivered to the aspirants through the same courier service.

He said that the Institute of Sindhology had a collection of valuable books which will be sold and distributed to the individuals with fondness of reading.

He said that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed with the Leopard Courier Service, under which it will deliver the books to the people placing the order for books at very low charges.

At the end, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Kalhoro welcomed spring by planting a sapling in Sindhology’s sod. (PR)
