IFRC delegation desires to join healthcare activities and provide sterilized delivery kits and medicines for women and newborn babies.

A team of International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) visited some basic health centers of Khairpur district and also held meeting with health officials to review the healthcare activities being carried out in flood-affected areas.
The team was led by Dr. Ateeq, Manager Health IFRC and Ms. Merve, Public Health Coordinator IFRC.
Dr. Muhammad Hussain Abro, ex-District Health Officer Khairpur and Secretary Red Crescent Society Khairpur said that IFRC team desired to work in health sector, providing sterilized delivery kits for the woman as well as new born babies to prevent them from post-delivery infection.
He said that team desired to work on hand-wash and hold sessions with community midwives (CMV) and Lady Health Workers.
Dr. Abro said that team assured to supply medicines for the flood-victims and organize medical camps, providing pure water for the rain-hit people of rural areas in the medical camps.
They also assured of surveillance of health Structure with the team of the Khairpur.
Dr. Abro said that team was briefed about the malaria and other waterborne diseases and preventive measures taken by the district health department Khairpur. The team was also informed about the outbreak of the Pneumonia in the flood-hit areas as well as in the tent cities of the flood-hit area.
The IFRC team was approached to provide blankets and warm clothes for the flood victims.
The IFRC team conducted surprise visit of the Red Crescent medical camp in Deh Sobu where team socially mobilized 210 patients, examined around 250 patients.
