Bahtiyar Hidayet, born in 1974 in the Gazakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan, graduated from university in 1995 and has been working as a history teacher since 1998. Wrote poetry since high school and has 4 poetry books published in Azerbaijan.
A Smile like a Firearm
A smiling photograph of a martyr on a gravestone,
A firearm in his hand.
And one day the firearm opened fire.
It killed his father, his mother,
Severely wounded his sister, his brother, his wife, his children.
But the magazine of the firearm did not become empty.
The finger is still on the trigger.
This deceased man,
When he was alive, killed his enemies.
After his death, he kills his loved ones.
And he does it with a smile.
