Sindh government issues directives to concerned departments to facilitate the private company   

Karachi

Sindh government has decided to allow a private sector company for mining of Iron Ore from Tharparkar and Thatta districts and establish a processing plant in Port Qasim area of Karachi.

The project was discussed in a meeting on Tuesday, presided over by Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Investment and Public-Private Partnership.

The project envisages mining, processing, value addition and distribution of Iron Ore.

The meeting was informed that Tharparkar district and the Jhimpir area of Thatta district were rich in Iron Ore deposits, and Agha Steel, a private company has shown interest in excavation, processing, value addition and distribution of Iron Ore, for which it plans to establish a Processing Plant in Port Qasim area of Karachi.

An official handout said that Special Assistant Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar directed the officers of his department as well as Mines and Mineral Development Department  to extend every possible cooperation to the company for initiating the project.

Syed Mansoor Abbas Zaidi, Secretary Mines and Mineral Development Department, Asad Zamin, Director General Public-Private Partnership Unit, Khizir Pervaiz, Chief Executive Officer, Sindh Enterprises Development Fund, Raza Agha of Agha Steel and others attended the meeting. (PR)
