Punjab University Wins All Pakistan Inter-University Women’s Judo Championship

Universities from Lahore dominated the competition, securing the top three positions

The All Pakistan Inter-University Women’s Judo Championship, hosted by Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, concluded with Punjab University securing the championship title. Universities from Lahore dominated the competition, securing the top three positions.

SAU-Judo-Sindh CourierThe final matches were held at SAU’s Sports Complex, where Punjab University claimed five gold and one bronze medal, emerging as the overall champion. Star athlete Sehr Wain won 2-gold medals in the 52kg weight category and the open weight category, contributing significantly to her team’s success.

Lahore Women University secured second place with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, while Lahore Garrison University finished third with one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

Judo-SAU-Sindh CourierThe guest of honor, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Director of University Advancement and Financial Assistance at SAU, distributed trophies, medals, and cash prizes among the winners. A total of 125 female athletes from 12 universities across Pakistan participated in various weight categories, showcasing exceptional skill and sportsmanship.

The closing ceremony was attended by Punjab Judo Chairman Col. Murtaza, Asif Iqbal, Rana Aqil, Shoukat Hussain Sangi, Muhammad Umar Dasti, Rafiq Ahmed, faculty members, and a large number of students.

The championship was officiated by Ameer Bakhtiar from Pakistan Police, Talib Hussain from Pakistan Army, Rafiq Ahmed and Muhammad Ali from Sindh Police, and Saika, Asif, and Kinza from WAPDA.

SAU-Scholarship-Sindh CourierSAU Awards Scottish Scholarships to Female Scholars

12 female students of Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam have been awarded the Scottish Scholarship for Female Students for the academic year 2024-25, facilitated by British Council Pakistan.

A scholarship distribution ceremony was held at the Senate Hall. SAU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, distributed scholarship cheques among the recipients. Registrar Ghulam Mohiuddin Qureshi and Director of University Advancement and Financial Assistance, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar were present.
