Royal Women Club Khairpur wins Benazir Bhutto Football Tournament Final

Tournament was organized by National Economic and Environmental Development Organization with support of Sindh Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

The final of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls Football Tournament Khairpur was won by Royals Women Football Club by defeating Pak-Turk International Schools and Colleges of Khairpur.

This tournament was organized by National Economic and Environmental Development Organization (NEEDO) with support of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Government of Sindh.

The winner and runner up teams’ players were awarded with trophies and medals at a ceremony on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, Lala Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh, President Anjuman-e-Tajran Khairpur said sports is the best way to develop confidence and sense of empowerment in women and girls.

Football-Tournament-Khairpur-Sindh-Courier-1He said that in many countries it has been recognized that sport can be a force to amplify women’s voices and tear down gender barriers and discrimination. “I am very happy to watch girls’ football match,” he said pledging to encourage girls for playing games.

Huseyin Talih, Director Pak-Turk School Khairpur said that there is good evidence that participation in sports can help break-down gender stereotypes, improve girls’ and women’s self-esteem and contribute to the development of leadership skills.

Syed Juman Shah said that girls are far more visible in sports today than at any previous point in history.

The tournament was attended by Maqsoda Bhatti, Principal Govt. Women College Khairpur, Dr. Zubaida Abbasi Senior Medical Officer, Qurban Chachar Physical Education Instructor, Abdul Rehman Amroti, Suhail Chandio and large number of students.
