Silence means man’s killing the noise

And the earthquakes

Of feelings

Within.

Meditation is nothing but forcing

Under check the feelings

Which are crying for

Release

A silent man has conquered noise

And internalized the power

Of the earthquakes

Within

Women who suffered endlessly

In the homes at the hands

Of their mothers in law

Husbands and then

Sons

The poor children who are dispossessed

Of everything who are expected to

Remain honest and not turn

Violent

Look into their eyes to see earthquakes

Trapped in their being brought

To silence by the mention of

Fate.

Who will finally do justice to this

Troubled silence of the poor

Who have lost their

Voice?

***

Language

We need words to express a feeling

Feeling is the original

And words go round and round

To assess the extent

Of joy or pain.

In the hands of masters

The language and the feeling

Coalesce

But with lesser men

It remains either over or understated.

There is always the danger

Of your words being waylaid

By clever rhetoricians

And forced to feel as they

Think it best

We can fix words in a text

But cannot trap

Their fragrance too

Which flows up the boundary wall

To land in the lap of the idling squad.

Writing a Poem

We know how we will conclude a story, an article or even a novel.

A poem does not give this power to the poet.

You can start writing a poem, but soon, you will find it has started dictating.

We are in its spell.

When the talisman breaks, then you see

What you have written.
