The officers of Sindh Information Department have been directed to actively monitor the news related to provincial government appearing in print, electronic and social media platforms.
“The officers should promptly contact the relevant departments to get clarifications, and refute any false or misleading information, by identifying the source of such news,” Nadeem ur Rehman Memon, Provincial Secretary Information Department, issued directives while presiding over the meeting of his department’s officers on Friday.
“The aim of this practice is to present an accurate representation of the facts to the public,” he added.
Secretary Information reviewed the performance of various directorates of the department. The directors gave presentations on the progress of their respective sections using visual aids such as charts.
The meeting was attended by the Director Admin and Accounts Mohammad Yousif Kabooro, Director Electronic Media Moizuddin Pirzada, Director Press Information Hasan Asghar Naqvi, Director Films Akhtar Ali Surhio, Director Advertising Imtiaz Joyo, Director Press Aziz Hakro, Director Publications Mansoor Rajput, Director Social Media Faisal Farooqui, Director Planning and Development Fida Hussain Baladi, besides Deputy Directors, Section Officers, and other officers of the department.
Secretary Nadeem ur Rehman Memon urged the officers to enhance the performance of their respective directorates and issued certain guidelines.
He specifically directed the officers of the Department of Advertisements and Accounts to prioritize timely payment of dues to the relevant media outlets.
Secretary further instructed the officers to utilize their abilities to effectively highlight the performance of Sindh Government through various media channels. It was emphasized that the officers should employ strategic and compelling communication strategies to showcase the achievements and initiatives of the government in a positive and impactful manner.
Later, Secretary Information held a meeting with the officials and members of the Sindh Parliamentary Reporters Association in the Sindh Assembly. He emphasized the close relationship between the Information Department and journalists, stating that they are interdependent and work together towards the dissemination of accurate information. He said that the Sindh government attaches special importance to the well-being and welfare of journalists, recognizing their crucial role in the democratic process.
Nadeem ur Rehman Memon also met press photographers stationed at the Sindh Assembly media corner and inquired about their current situation and any challenges they may be facing. (PR)
