Sindh to introduce Biometric Verification of Vehicle Owners

Under this system, vehicles operating on fake documents, without transfer documents and on open letter will be identified and discouraged.

Karachi

Sindh Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department and National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) Friday signed Memorandum of Understanding for introducing biometric verification of vehicle owners.

The signing ceremony of the agreement was held at the office of Director General Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Sindh.

Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Sindh Atif Rehman, Director General Excise & Taxation Aurangzeb Panhwar and other officers were present in the ceremony. The MoU was signed by Director Excise Admin Waheed Sheikh on behalf of Sindh Excise Department and Head of e-Government Section Salman Malik on behalf of NADRA.

Under the agreement, NADRA will start the process of verification of vehicle owners under NADRA e Sahulat program. In the first phase, this agreement has been made for three years.

Under this system, vehicles operating on fake documents, without transfer and operating on open letter will be identified and discouraged.

As in today’s modern era many problems have been solved through biometric authentication and this system will be very helpful in developing Sindh Excise Department on modern lines. (PR)
