Hyderabad: The divisional administration has decided to launch from Tuesday September 7, 2021 the Covid-19 vaccination of students of 17 years plus age with the consent of their parents and for this purpose consent forms will be distributed among students.

Mostly the students secondary and higher secondary level having attained the age of seventeen years will be brought in vaccination cover.

Speaking at a meeting convened at Commissioner Office Shahbaz Building on Monday, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch directed the concerned officers to initiate the vaccination process covering the students of class nine to twelve who are of seventeen plus age.

“Since the vaccination would be carried out with the consent of the parents, the consent forms should be sent to them through the students,” he instructed.

Commissioner Baloch further directed the officers to also seek copies of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) or the ‘B’ Form of the students so that they can be registered on the website of National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) for vaccination certification.

“The Delta variant of Covid-19 is highly dangerous which spreads very fast, therefore all possible measures are being adopted to prevent its spread. “The data shows that 85 percent of the Covid-19 patients admitted at the hospitals are those who didn’t get them vaccinated,” he told adding that for this reason the government has expedited the vaccination process.

Commissioner Hyderabad directed the officers to ensure that all the teaching and non-teaching staff of schools and colleges. He was however informed by the concerned officers that hundred percent vaccine-coverage of teaching and non-teaching staff has been completed.

District Health Officer of Hyderabad informed that he was in close coordination with all the concerned officers and the preparations have been finalized for kick starting the vaccination process at the schools and colleges.

Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Fuad Ghaffar Soomro, Deputy Director Planning & Development Sanaullah Rind, Director School Education Rasool Bux Shah, Director College Education Dr. Abdul Hameed Channar, Director Private Schools Zawar Naqvi, District Health Officer Hyderabad Dr. Lala Jaffar and other officers attended the meeting.
