Spokesperson of the Sindh government and Advisor to CM Sindh on Law, Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that there will be ‘One Karachi in One Sindh’ as ever.
“PPP had rejected what people said in the past that ‘Sindh One and Sindh Two’ should be created. Similarly, people are now talking about ‘Karachi One and Karachi Two’, but in reality, there is no such thing. There will be ‘One Karachi in One Sindh’ as ever,” he categorically said while addressing press conference in the Sindh Assembly Committee Room on Wednesday.
Murtaza Wahab said that the results of LG polls had been announced by the Provincial Election Commission in which the people voted for the Pakistan People’s Party candidates in the first phase of the election. Now the same success continued in Hyderabad and Karachi Divisions. “For the first time, the People’s Party has got a big lead in Hyderabad and a clear majority in the Karachi Division.”
He further said that for the first time in Karachi, the transport problem is being solved seriously, and it is not hypothetical but seen in on ground. “Pakistan’s first electric bus has been launched in this city. People have witnessed the commencement of the 1122 service.”
Enumerating a few more achievements of Sindh Government, he said, people can see NICVD is functioning well and are appreciating its performance, where all 300,000 cardio patients were treated free of cost. Meanwhile, the Red Line mass transit transport operation has been started.
He pointed out that development schemes worth billions of rupees in the Kemari district have successfully been completed. Just look at District West and Kemari district as a whole, where we built 31 small and big roads. As a result, not much damage occurred in Yusuf Goth, located in West District, even in heavy rain. In Korangi district, we built eight thousand and twelve thousand roads.
He further said that the Sindh government established an autism school in Gulistan Johar and people highly appreciated it. Construction of other roads from Fisherman Chowrangi in Malir Ibrahim Hydari is in progress. Earlier, fishermen did not have facilities, so Sindh Government built grounds there.
He said that the city of Karachi belongs to everyone and added that the project Malir Expressway being made at Rs.29 billion would be a game changer for the city. The Johar Chowranghi flyover will be opened to the public in mid-April.
He said it is crystal clear that the People’s Party is currently the single largest party in Karachi. We have always been subject to criticism in this city because we are against strikes, hooliganism, and extortion. But now Karachi is changing, and Karachiites have realized solutions to their problems lie in supporting those who can deliver on the ground instead of just paying lip service. Street crime will also be controlled soon, the way we controlled terrorism.
To a questions, Murtaza Wahab said that eventually, constitutional institutions have to make constitutional decisions. “We canceled newly made municipal boundaries, but the Election Commission did not accept our decision. Principally the subject notification has to be decided by the constitutional bodies”.
He said: “Even if we hold elections, we are taken as wrong. Interestingly we are still considered bad even if we deliver on the ground.”
