100 Houses Handed Over to Flood-Affected Families of Saeedabad

Former DG FIA Bashir Memon was the man who took initiative realizing the pain of IDPs

The Key handing over ceremony of New Al-Madina Model Village, constructed by UK-based international organization Muslim Charity, for flood-affected families was held in Saeedabad, district Matiari the other day.

Abdul Ghaffar Chhachhar, representative of the Al-Mehran Rural Development Organization Pakistan (AMRDO) said that former Director General FIA had by realizing the pain of the peoples internally displaced by floods and living on the bank of Indus River in Saeedabad had taken initiative for their resettlement.

Saeedabad-Homes-IDPs-1He said that former DG FIA Bashir Memon had motivated the philanthropists for the resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He said that a philanthropist of Saeedabad Syed Waliullah Shah agreed to provide his 04 acre land against Rs.4 million per acre and he himself paid Rs.2 million.

Saeedabad-Homes-IDPs-2Mr. Ghaffar said that his organization AMRDO had taken on board Muslim Charity, a UK-based organization. “The representatives of the Muslim Charity visited the land and agreed to construct the houses to resettle the IDPs.”

He said that Muslim Charity, with the support of AMRDO, executed the Model village project named as New Al-Madina Model Village and constructed 100 houses at 900 Sq. feet house per family, that include kitchen and washroom.

Saeedabad-Homes-IDPs-3“Model village consists Solar Wells for drinking water, seven businesses including Barber Shop, Vegetable Market, Flour Stone, Community Hall, Mosque, Dispensary and School while streets are of CC blocks,” he told.

Mr. Ghaffar said that some Feudal Lords had created hurdles in the execution of the Model Village Project.

Saeedabad-Homes-IDPs-4When contacted, ex-DG FIA Bashir Memon said that it’s a purely charity-based project. “I just took initiative for the resettlement of the IDPs.”

Naseer Ahmed Memon, representative of Muslim Charity, Abdul Ghaffar Chhachhar (AMRDO), Asif Bajeer (AMRDO) Zubair Ahmed Shah Country Director Muslim Charity, Ashfaque Ahmed and Mubeen of Muslim Charity handed over the keys in a ceremony to flood-affected families.
