Egypt Celebrates the Creativity
Poet Abdel Latif Moubarak Receives “Sergio Camellini” International Poetry Award in Italy
MODENA, ITALY
The Italian city of Modena, specifically the Hall of Honor at the Ducal Palace of the Military Academy, was the scene of a prominent cultural event on November 22, 2025, reflecting the standing of Egyptian poetry on the global stage. Egyptian poet, Abdel Latif Moubarak, was awarded the prestigious Sergio Camellini International Poetry Award.

As the poet was unable to attend the awards ceremony personally, the award was accepted on his behalf by the Egyptian singer based in Italy, Nasser Attallah. This gesture highlights the solidarity of Egyptian artists abroad and their celebration of their nation’s cultural achievements.
A Crowning Achievement for a Rich Poetic Career
Abdel Latif Moubarak’s victory in this esteemed award, granted by the “Camellini” Cultural Association, serves as recognition for his decades-long, richly creative poetic journey. The jury announced that Moubarak had won joint third place in the Rhymed Poetry category, praising the depth of his experience and his poetic style, which successfully combines the authenticity of the modern Arabic Qasida (Ode) with a contemporary spirit.
Born in Suez in 1964 and a member of the Writers’ Union of Egypt, Abdel Latif Moubarak is considered one of the most significant poets of the 1980s era. He has enriched the Arabic library with numerous poetry collections in both classical Arabic (Fusha) and Egyptian colloquial, including: Qeraya Tanya lel Gasad (Another Reading of the Body), Nawbet Atash (A Thirst Attack), and Betgarab Tany Temoot (You Try to Die Again).
Singer Nasser Attallah Accepts the Award and Celebrates Egyptian Art
In a formal, festive atmosphere, Egyptian singer Nasser Attallah stepped onto the stage to receive the award, the certificate of appreciation, and the honorary shield, representing the poet Abdel Latif Moubarak before an audience of Italian and international writers, critics, and cultural figures.
Attallah expressed his pride in representing the great poet at this international forum, noting that this tribute is a recognition of Egyptian and Arabic poetry as a whole. Attallah delivered a brief speech, conveying the greetings and appreciation of the poet Moubarak to the organizers and the jury. He emphasized that art is a unifying message that transcends borders, and that Egyptian creativity always finds its way to global recognition.
A Ceremony within the Military Academy
The tribute was held in one of Modena’s most historic landmarks, the Ducal Palace, which houses the Military Academy. This lent an air of prestige and high esteem to the occasion for the winners. The Association described the award recipients, including Poet Mubarak, as “the true guardians of the word and art,” underscoring the importance the award places on preserving the artistic and ethical value of poetic creation.
Poet Moubarak: The Award is an Incentive for More Giving
In subsequent press statements, Poet Abdel Latif Moubarak expressed his joy at this international recognition, asserting that the award serves as an incentive for him to continue his poetic career and work on translating more of his works to reach readers worldwide. He also thanked singer Nasser Attallah for his role in receiving the award, viewing it as a model of solidarity among Egyptian artists in disseminating Egyptian culture and creativity abroad.
The Sergio Camellini International Poetry Award is considered one of Italy’s most prestigious awards, attracting participation from poets of various nationalities. This makes the Egyptian poet’s victory a valuable addition to Egypt’s record of cultural achievements.
