Karachi: The Excise Police District Central Karachi seized 300 kilogram Hashish from a car in Nazimabad area of the city on Monday.

On a tip-off, Excise and Taxation Officer Zahoor Ahmad Mazari along with his team recovered the hashish from a car parked in Nazimabad area.

Director Excise and Narcotics Control Department Waheed Sheikh said that the owners of the car will be traced soon. “The operation was carried out on a tip-off and hopefully the accused would be rounded up soon,” he said in a statement.

Sadeqain along with his team recovered seven kilograms of hashish from rickshaw No: D-1716475 near City Railway Station at I.I. Chundrigar Road and arrested one accused Obaid Khan.

Meanwhile, sources said that Karachi is being used as transit point for smuggling of drugs from up-country Middle Eastern and other countries. The hashish, opium and heroin are also supplied to drug dens openly operating in Karachi and other cities of Sindh.

According to a recent investigative report submitted by the Karachi Police in Sindh High Court, it was revealed that drugs worth Rs.250 million have been smuggled out of Pakistan and sent to the Middle East and Africa via the sea route.

As per the investigation of the Sindh Police, smugglers of the network operate from Gwadar and Turbat in Balochistan as well as Karachi. The smugglers have rented bungalows in DHA and other areas, the report added.
