Assembly of the GAZ-66M armored vehicle has begun at the central repair base for weapons and military equipment of Kyrgyzstan

Assembly of the GAZ-66M armored vehicle, the first military vehicle in the history of Kyrgyzstan, has begun at the central repair base for weapons and military equipment in the country. Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan, Baktybek Bekbolotov, announced this during a press conference in Bishkek, Sputnik reports.
The construction of the facility started several years ago, and this year the project has reached a new level, explained Bekbolotov.
“Many did not believe in the possibility of creating and operating this repair base, the construction of which we started two years ago. But today, it has become a reality that it has reached full capacity this year. This is the first facility of our emerging defense-industrial complex,” said the minister.
The Central Repair Base for weapons and equipment under the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan was ceremoniously opened in October 2022 in the Issyk-Kul region, in the city of Balykchy, based on the one of military units of the Ministry.
Its implementation became possible with the assistance of Russia, which provided material and technical support.
