
VC Dr. Sarosh Hashmat resolves turning it into surplus budget like previous one; Sindh Minister and Pro Chancellor Zia Abbas presides Senate’s budget session.

A deficit budget of the NED University of Engineering for the fiscal year 2022-23 was presented in the 30th Senate session on Wednesday. The size of the budget has been estimated at Rs.3798.806 million with deficit of Rs.211.144 million.
Presenting the budget in the university’s Senate, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi said that the budget for 2021-2022 had also a deficit of Rs.167.695 million, but the university administration took great efforts and turned it into a surplus budget saving of Rs.1.118 million.
“The new budget for 2022-2023 is Rs.3798.806 million starting with an estimated deficit of Rs.211.144 million,” he told and added that efforts will be made to turn this deficit budget into surplus as was done in the previous budget.
VC Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi said that it was welcome move that the grants of universities across Sindh would be doubled.
Sindh Minister for Works & Services Syed Zia Abbas, who was designated by the Chief Minister as Pro- Chancellor of Engineering & Technology Universities of the province vide a notification dated June 26, 2022, said in his presidential address that NED university’s rankings in engineering sector universities around the world is a source of pride for the entire country.
“The Sindh government has supported universities in the past and will continue to do so in the future,” he said adding that the NED sub-campus in Thar is performing well.
Syed Zia Abbas congratulated the team including Vice Chancellor for turning the previous budget into a surplus.
Out of 102 members of the Senate, 86 attended physically, 7 online while 6 members could not attend due to personal reasons. Secretary Universities and Boards Mureed Rahmon was also present in the Senate meeting.
