The Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan commented on the publication in the British newspaper Times about unknown individuals using Artificial Intelligence to write positive articles about Kazakhstan and sending them to the media on behalf of scientists. The Kazkah government agency stated that they did not conduct such work, Kursiv.kz reports.
Context: The Times reported that the Euronews channel received an article from scientists Oliver Turner and Adam Bauer about Kazakhstan, but the editor rejected it, considering the formulations in the text to be strange. It turned out that the articles were written with the help of AI and had no connection to the scientists.
For example, Turner’s text, which he did not write, discussed the rise of “average states” and Kazakhstan in general. What was written in Bauer’s text in the Times article is not mentioned. It is currently unknown who exactly may send fake texts about Kazakhstan on behalf of scientists.
How the information was commented on in Kazakhstan: The Ministry of Culture and Information stated that the issue is not within their competence.
“The question is not within our competence. We did not conduct such work. If someone’s rights are violated, I think they can file a complaint about the violation of their rights,” the department told.
Earlier, it was reported that the Electronic Labor Exchange (EBT) website has launched an AI model that will help match job vacancies and resumes for job seekers and employers.
It was also noted that in Kazakhstan, there are plans to train AI adapted to Central Asia. The Ministry of Digital Development of Kazkahstan reported that the project is currently in the discussion stage.
