Former VC, University of Sindh, writer, educationist, lexicographer and historian Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch had passed away 13-years back on April 6

Former Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, renowned writer, educationist, lexicographer and historian Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch (December 16, 1917 – April 6, 2011) was remembered on April 6, the day when he passed away thirteen years back.

A simple gathering, also attended by the sons, family members of late scholar, was organized to mark his anniversary by Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch Chair, Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch Institute of Heritage Research Jamshoro.

Dr Baloch- Anniversary- Sindh CourierEngineer Ali Muhammad Baloch and Mohammad Rafiq Baloch, sons, and other family members, well-wishers and lovers of Dr. Baloch visited Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch’s last resting place, laid flowers and offered Fatiha.

Later, a literary sitting was organized by Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch Chair established in Sindh University. It was presided over by the son of Dr. Baloch Engineer Ali Muhammad, who said that Baloch Sahib was a big name in the world of knowledge and literature, but he was also a kind father. “He did a lot of work for his family and village.”

Dr Baloch- Anniversary- Sindh Courier-1Dr. Fayaz Latif, director of the chair, said that Dr. Baloch not only lived his life well, but he also enriched Sindhi literature and established new traditions in research.

Director, Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Baloch Institute of Heritage Research, Dr. Altaf Mehboob jokhio, said that Baloch Sahib has done excellent work in the field of Sindhi language, and his academic work and scholarly role can never be forgotten.

Secretary, Sindhi Adabi (Literary) Board Jamshoro Ms. Gulbadan Javed Mirza said that Dr. Baloch was such a practical person, who secretly spread Sindh’s knowledge.

Dr Baloch- Anniversary- Sindh Courier-2Former Secretary General of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, a literary association, Prof. Taj Joyo said Dr. Nabi Bakhsh Baloch was a great teacher of Sindh and Sindhi language. “Such people are born occasionally and in centuries, but when they leave, a great void is left.”

Dr. Riazat Buriro said that Dr. Baloch’s work in lexicography is excellent. Nafis Ahmad Nashad said that the Dr. N.A Baloch was an exemplary person in every respect. “The more knowledge he had, the more he was ambitious.”

Dr. Abdul Majeed Chandio said, “Whenever Dr. Sahib came to Kachho for research, we had the privilege of hosting him.”

Dr Baloch- Anniversary- Sindh Courier-3Advocate Roshan Sunder Chandio said that Dr. Baloch was a practical man. He devoted his whole life for the development of Sindh and Sindhi language. Professor Faheem Noonari said that Dr. Baloch will be remembered forever for his academic and research work.

Abdullah Kohistani, Dr Ijaz Ahmed Khoonharo, Abdul Qadir Khatti and other writers, intellectuals, poets, and journalists participated in the program. (PR)
