SBP organizes one-day seminar at Shah Abdul Latif University for orientation of female students about the financial sector

The State Bank of Pakistan has launched a program for orientation of female students about the financial sector so that they can be able to join the banking and other financial fields.

Under this program, a one-day awareness seminar on “Banking on Equality” for female students of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur was held here by the State Bank of Pakistan in collaboration with Entrepreneurship Society of University.

Ms. Roma, officer of State Bank Sukkur in her presentation shed light on state of women financial inclusion in Pakistan. She said equal opportunities for all genders to access and to take part in all financial endeavors are critical for sustainable and inclusive economic growth in any country.

SBP-Seminar-Sindh CourierShe said banking on equality policy pillar depends on women centric products and outreach targets. “Our aim is to increase women ratio in financial sector to 20% by 2024,” she said adding that the SBP is committed to provide all possible facilities to the female students at educational institutions.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the seminar while Dr. Sharjeel Noor Channa, Deputy Commissioner, Khairpur was the chief guest. Roohal Khan Khoso, SSP, Khairpur, Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Director Institute of Business Administration and Muhammad Ismail, Chief Manager State Bank of Pakistan, Sukkur were the guests of honor.

Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto appreciated the efforts of State Bank of Pakistan for empowering the women.

Dr. Ibupoto stressed the need for seed money to the business incubation center at University with the help of the State Bank of Pakistan. He said this seminar will provide ample opportunities to the female students of the University in the job opportunities and internship facilities at State Bank.

Dr. Sharjeel Noor Channa, Deputy Commissioner Khairpur, said Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur is contributing positively for the capacity building of the students and socioeconomic building. He remarked that women empowerment is essential for change for future generation and for social fabric.

He lamented that there is domestic violence with women. “It is need of the time to change our mindset.”

He said this awareness seminar will be a soft message for the women empowerment.

Roohal Khan Khoso, SSP Khairpur said that it is need of time to provide social justice to the women at large as owing to lack of education, male dominated society and poverty, women are denied of their legal rights. He stressed the need to provide women rights because women are also agent of social change.

He remarked that entrepreneurship has importance in Sindh because local product is available i.e. handicraft, cultural items but there is need to recognize their significance and women handmade items may be exported abroad for marketing.

Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari said this is a very good initiative taken by the State Bank of Pakistan for providing equal opportunities to the female students. He said the Institute of Business Administration has a business plan. We have to embark this plan to collaborate with government and private organizations.

SBP Manager Muhammad Ismail said there is gender gap in our society. It is need of the time to enhance female ratio in the banking sector.

He said gender diversity and inclusion are very essential for prosperity of the country. Similarly the State Bank is also committed to provide job opportunities, internship and loan facilities to the girls as well as transgender.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences also spoke.

Syed Toufiaue Hussain Shah, Assistant Chief Manager, State Bank of Pakistan, Fawad Hussain Assistant Director State Bank of Pakistan, Sukkur, Pardeep Kumar Officer State Bank of Pakistan Sukkur, Prof. Dr. Khalida Mahar, Ms. Shahida Amir Chandio, Ms. Saira Chandio, Ms. Shazia Solangi, Zohaib Memon, Asia Ruk, Shumaila Rabab Rizvi, Taj Bibi, Afroze Kalhoro, Sadia Larik, Muneera Sajjad and large number of female students attended the seminar.
