DG HEC Ms. Ayesha Ikram holds meeting with university officials regarding scholarship opportunities for the university students.

The first ever Alumni Festival in the history of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam will be held in December.

This was announced here on Wednesday during the visit of Director General, Human Resources and Development, Higher Education Commission Islamabad Ms. Ayesha Ikram, who attended the meeting regarding scholarships for the students of the university.

She urged the alumni, private sector, business organizations and industrialists to come forward for support of university and students.

Ms. Ayesha Ikram discussed with university officials regarding scholarship opportunities for the university students. She also attended an awareness session for students in the Senate Hall and answered questions from students regarding scholarships.

On this occasion, Dr. Qamaruddin Chachar, Senior Dean, Faculty of Crop Production, Dr. Abdullah G. Arijo, Academic Advisor to the Vice Chancellor and Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar, Director, University Advancement and Financial Assistance, gave a detailed briefing about university and available resources of scholarships.

Ms. Ayesha Ikram appreciated the establishment of endowment fund of the university and scholarship opportunities for deserving and meritorious students and said that a large number of students studying in Sindh Agriculture University belong to poor families. She urged the university graduates and alumni holding various positions in public and private institutions to help the university and its deserving students. “Especially the industrialists and landlords have a role to play in making this institution feel ‘My University’ while the university authorities need to further strengthen the endowment fund.”

Agri-University-Meeting-Sindh-Courier-1Prof. Dr. Abdullah G. Arijo said that the university is trying to get scholarships from various sources, including alumni, while there will be more scholarship opportunities for female students as well, and cooperation of HEC in this regard is commendable.

Director HEC Rao Muhammad Azhar said that there are sufficient scholarship opportunities for meritorious and deserving students.

He said that they are trying to ensure the development of the university and the payment of scholarships for the students so that more and more students can benefit from these opportunities.

Dr. Syed Ghiyasuddin Shah Rashdi, Dean, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, Dr. Jan Mohammad Marri, Dean, Faculty of Crop Protection, Ghulam Mohiyuddin Qureshi, Registrar, Anil Kumar, Director Finance, Prof. Dr. Syed Zia-ul-Hassan Shah were present on the occasion, while the students participated in question-answer session.
