The Taliban regime of Afghanistan has started producing oil in the Amu Darya river basin with the assistance of China, reports Orient.tm.

As part of the grand opening ceremony with the participation of representatives of the ministries and departments of Afghanistan, proposals were made to build the country’s first oil refinery.

The Minister of Mines and Oil of Afghanistan stressed that the start of oil production in this region is an important step for the development of the country’s economy. The development of oil fields will open up opportunities to extract about 100 tons of valuable resource per day.

Currently, Afghan oilmen have drilled about 9 wells in the river basin.

Representatives of the Chamber of Industry and Mines of Afghanistan noted that the development and production of oil in these territories is an important step towards the self-sufficiency of the state.

Assistance in the development of the oil industry in Afghanistan is provided by the Chinese energy giant CNPC, which will invest $162 million this year and $540 million over three years.
