Seminar on ‘Students’ Mental Health Awareness’ held at Sindh Agriculture University

Vice Chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam, Dr. Fateh Marri has said that intolerance and frustration arise among the youth due to economic and family problems, therefore it is needed to conduct reform and awareness sessions for the youth in educational institutions.

“The SAU will set up a career counseling center for university graduates,” he said while addressing a seminar on “Students Mental Health Awareness” at Dr. AM Sheikh Auditorium Hall under the auspices of Sindh Agriculture University in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and USAID.

Vice Chancellor said that due to economic problems, educational challenges, employment issues, and social problems in the country, especially in Sindh, the youth are suffering from mental pressure, while the negative and positive use of social media also affects the mental health, so they should be happy, take care of their friends, and improve their activities, as well as the use social media must be positive to solve economic problems.

He said that a career counseling center will be established in the Sindh Agriculture University for the guidance of the youth.

Consultant for media and heritage Dr. Mahmood ul Hassan Mughal said that in the current situation, most of the youth are suffering from many problems, and the youth have changed many positive traditions. They have increased their needs and desires, and have made themselves a victim of isolation, therefore, the youth should discuss their problems in their good circle of friends.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar said that the youth get confused in education expenses, career and family matters. “To provide them an environment of relaxation and sense of security, parents and educational institutions have to play a significant role, while the youth themselves have to adopt an attitude of tolerance.”

Dr. Faisal Noor Ansari, Jam Ghulam Murtaza Sahito and students also addressed the event. Question answer session was also held. (PR)
