The 202nd 3-day annual Urs of Poet and Sufi Saint Sachal Sarmast will start in Daraza Sharif, Gambat, district Khairpur on Wednesday March 5, 2023 (14th Ramzan ul Mubarak).
PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Billawal Bhutto Zardari, accompanied by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah is likely to inaugurate the Urs celebrations by laying wreaths and offering Fateha at the shrine of Sachal Sarmast.
Deputy Commissioner Kharpur Dr. Sharjeel Noor Channa presided over a meeting on Sunday to finalize the arrangements for the Urs celebration.
SSP Khairpur Mir Rohal Khan Khoso has devised a security plan to ensure law and order during Urs celebration. He informed the meeting that 1000 policemen have been engaged to ensure law and order while CCTV cameras have also been installed.
Various events will be organized during three days of celebration such as Mehfil-e-Sama, a national literacy conference at Daraza Sharif auditorium, Mushaira and Raga concert.
Sugharanji Katchery and traditional Sindhi games will also be a part of the celebrations.
Renowned scholars, Ulemas, Mashaikh, intellectuals, large number of devotees will attend the Urs.
Educational as well as spiritual conventions will be held on the occasion of the Urs besides Mahafil-e-Naat and Mahafil-e-Samah.
Sachal Awards will also be presented to eminent personalities of the country.
Local holiday in Khairpur has also been announced on 05th April on the first day of the Urs.
