Celebrating the Indian Literature Awards

Dr. Jernail S. Anand honored with Soka Ikeda Memorial Literary Award and Mahakavi Bharathi Achievements Award
Knowledge cannot be ethically ambiguous or neutral – Dr. Anand
India’s prolific poet and philosopher Dr. Jernail Singh Anand was felicitated with Soka Ikeda Memorial Literary Award by Dr Sethukumanan, Chairman of the Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Chennai and Mahakavi Bharathi Admirable Achievements Award by the Chairman of the Bharathi Foundation Sh Vanavil K Ravi.
Dr. Anand, President of the International Academy of Ethics, was here to deliver a Seminal Address at the International Seminar and Poetry Conference on Formatting Young Minds for A Grand New World organized jointly by the IAE and the College.
In his address, Dr. Anand stressed that Knowledge cannot be ethically neutral. There is urgent need for introduction of an Ethical Alphabet (C for Compassion, E for Ethics l, K for Kindness and F for Forgiveness, for example). He also proposed that every certificate of Postgraduate studies or Doctoral studies should carry an Oath signed by the student which reads:
“I promise to use my knowledge for the wellbeing of the cosmic society. I also promise that I shall not use my knowledge, my powers to cause any hurt to the moral structure of the society”.
It was a great moment when the assembly of students and teachers was administered this Oath by Dr Anand.
Dr. Ramakrishna Perugu, a bilingual poet and internationally renowned scholar from Nellore was also conferred the Soka Ikeda Award by the College, while Dr. Sethukumanan Dr. Maja Herman Sekulic, Vice President IAE and are Ramakrishna Perugu received the Mahakavi Bharathi Awards along with Dr Anand announced by Sh Vanavil K Ravi who is Chairman of the Bharathi Foundation.
The IAE honoured Dr Sethu Kamanan and Sh Vanavil K. Ravi with Fellowship of the International Academy of Ethics while Dr. Ramakrishna Perugu was conferred IAE Roll of Honour.
The International Seminar (hybrid) was attended by poets and scholars from Kolkata, Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The Inaugural session was presided over by Dr Sethu Kamanan, followed by Technical Session I chaired by Dr M Rajaram and co -chaired and moderated by Dr. Bhagyashree Varma, Univ of Mumbai. The Second Technical session was chaired by Dr Ramakrishna Perugu, co-chaired by Prof Seema Jain, Assoc Director IAE, and moderated by Dr Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Project Coordinator. The Valedictory function was chaired by Guest of Honour Sh Vanavil K Ravi who gave away the Awards to the participants.
Four books by eminent poets Dr. Molly Joseph, Dr. Ezhil Vendhan and two anthologies published by the Academy were released which included
The Poetry of Time and Timelessness edited by Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Harinder Cheema, Dr Sweta Kimari and Rupa Rao and a research book Crime and Nemesis in Literature and Human Life edited by Dr. M Rajaram and Dr. Rajpalsingh Chikhalikar.
The visiting poets and scholars were felicitated with an Award of Ambassador of Eternity by the IAE, in addition to the certificate of participation. The IAE felicitated the College with a special memento for their quality work and inspiring cooperation.
