Golden Ratio
There is a golden ratio.
Swift and melodious
As a ruby-throated hummingbird’s wings,
The spatial relationships
Among the eyes, nose and lips
Of the mother,
No matter on whose face seen,
Return the peace
And serenity of childhood
To the perceiver.
There is another golden ratio.
Humble and permanent
As the ruby-throated smile of recognition,
The spatial relationships
Between the moon tides and prayers
Of eternity
That are more powerful than ten nuclear wars,
No matter on whose face seen,
Return the serenity of all living things
To the human race.
And when the earth is sick
Her our dearest first mother
And her animals and plants are dying,
The rainbows will return
To save them
With eternity’s moon tides and prayers
That are more powerful than ten nuclear wars.
