Hyderabad: During an ongoing anti-encroachment drive hundreds of illegal structures were demolished in Tando Jam city and at the main Tando Qaiser road during last five days.
The anti-encroachment drive was launched on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Fuad Ghaffar Soomro following the government orders. Assistant Commissioner Taluka Hyderabad (Rural) Ms. Qandeel Fatima Memon supervised the anti-encroachment operation during which bulldozers and other heavy machinery was used.
On Monday, the fifth day of the operation, extensions built on main road in Tando Jam and Tando Qaisar road were removed. As many as 292 steps outside shops, 190 sun-shades of the shops, 4 shops and 17 walls were demolished in a day.
During five days of operation some 942 steps (thalha) built in front of shops, 505 sun-shades, 23 walls, 5 shops, one Municipal Committee Naka Stop, one Telephone Pole and one railway property were demolished.
Police, anti-encroachment force, rangers and other officials took part in the operation.
An official handout said that encroachment on government lands and roads had become troublesome for general public. Clearing any sort of hard or soft encroachment not only widens the pathway, but also eases traffic flow. In compliance of the order of Sindh High Court, anti-encroachment drive is in full swing in Taluka Hyderabad.
It added that the entire city of Tando Jam and main Tando Qaiser road have been cleared of encroachments. After the removal commercial encroachments from the roads and streets, entire debris was also lifted.
Official handout further said that Rural Taluka is the only Taluka of district Hyderabad where anti encroachment operation on Irrigation sites is also underway simultaneously and a number of areas of Seri and Husri have been cleared of commercial and residential encroachments.
