Recent attack on Lahore is a pernicious new incident added to the New Year, after a long respite our country has enjoyed. A powerful blast which ripped through the crowded Anarkali market, which resulted in killing of three people and injuring 33, is the incident that denies tall claims of our rulers that ‘our citizens are safe’. The bloody incident suggests that Pakistan has long battle ahead to fight against terrorism. Our law enforcement agencies must scan and snoop into these incidents for the safety and security of the country.
My heart sank after watching several photos and videos shared online and the plumes of smoke rising from damaged motorcycles and carts. Whenever, I have visited Lahore and I have always visited Anarkali market for books and gifts.
These crowded places are soft targets for terrorists who want to see unstable Pakistan. Hope that all these enemies will be weeded out of our country for good.
