Kolkata-based author Debasree Chakraborty writes a novel about the 19 years of life of Jesus, which, according to some contemporary texts, he spent traveling extensively in the Middle East, Sindhu region and India

[Author’s Note: In the Old Testament of the Bible, there is no information about the life of Jesus for 19 years. There are some contemporary texts where eyewitnesses have stated that he traveled extensively in the Middle East and crossed the Sindhu region to enter India. Through this novel, I have tried to portray the diary of a profound spiritual journey of his life in the initial and final chapters. Foreign powers have tried to erase the history of our continent, Asia. That is why, when Notovitch returned from Hemis in Ladakh and mentioned that ancient text over 2000 years old, Max Müller sent people to Hemis to destroy that ancient manuscript. The mysterious manuscript is also mentioned in the book by Swami Abhedananda about Kashmir and Tibet. What was it that caused Max Müller so much concern over this manuscript? It is noteworthy that love cannot come into the life of the son of God, and he cannot have any children. Even the Gospels attributed to him have been confined to the secret, dark chambers of the Pope’s city, with words implanted into his mouth according to their wishes. In his name, imperialistic aggression is being carried out across the world. His only daughter, Sara, has not been recognized. His entire existence has been imprisoned. There lies an unknown chapter of his life hidden throughout the Middle East, the Sindhu region, and India. I have brought forth this history through this novel. “An Unknown Life” is in no way a novel imitating “Jesus lived in India.” This novel provides detailed descriptions of his presence across the vast land from Israel to India, not just his own, but also the mysterious narratives of many people associated with him. Was Jesus truly the founder of Christianity? If not, why must he still bear the burden of the “Roman Cross”? Is there ever to be a possibility of his release? All answers are coming. Debashree Chakraborty]

An Unknown Life

Alexandria, Year 2021

(A mysterious letter from an unknown identity in Jerusalem)

Omkari simply could not close her eyes. Every word written in this letter is intensely vivid; it is impossible to deny it. To reject this letter would mean to deny her own judgment. Through her special ability, Omkari has spent her entire life solving various mysteries. Today, all she can conclude from what she reads in this letter is that a significant chapter of world history has been nearly erased from the map by some special power, which has rewritten that history according to its own wishes. The person who wrote this letter describes themselves as a very low-ranking member of this community. The description is so lively that Omkari feels as if she is witnessing everything with her own eyes.

Jesus-Debasree-Novel-Sindh Courier-1The letter’s sender wrote that on the night of the Roman attack on Jupiter’s temple, Mary, Joseph, and their son Jesus were supposed to come to Jerusalem by a very secret route. A map of this secret path was given to me by a brother from our community. I do not know this brother’s identity; there were many unknown individuals associated with our community whose identities we did not know. We followed the instructions given to us as best as we could. That terrifying night, we traveled along the uneven rocky path. There were no inhabitants for miles around this path. But a harsh wind carried a burnt smell from the direction of Jupiter’s temple. This smell was the scent of death, which was our guiding force. As we continued, we reached a village at the foot of the mountains by dawn. The mention of this village was on the map. This village belonged to our community’s people. We stayed there for one night. The next day, we began our journey again. This path was also very mysterious and had strange diversity in nature. Amid the rugged landscape, small bodies of water began to appear. Then, the greenery commenced as we gradually reached a place surrounded by forest. This place was named Halith Polis. While moving through the forest, we arrived at a high location mentioned on the map. I lit a torch and held it up to shine the light. Immediately, another torch’s light flared up from a distance on the mountain. We understood that we were close to our destination: We have arrived near the Temple of the Jihuva. Our arrival has been noticed, and we are being guided from the temple.

So far, Omkari understood from everything that has been read about Jesus that there were various dangers in Jesus’ life even before his birth. For this reason, Joseph, Mary, and their child had to hide in different places. At this moment, Omkari is recalling a specific person with whom she wants to discuss this unknown chapter of Jesus’ life: Ratul. It has been a long time since she spoke with Ratul. One day, she spoke with Halayudh, during which she received Ratul’s new number from him. From Halayudh, she learned that Ratul is now in Rishikesh. She is unsure if it’s appropriate to call Ratul so late, but for people like them, time is not a matter at all. They do whatever they desire at any moment. Without overthinking, she dials the number Halayudh gave her. The phone rings, and after a moment, Ratul answers with a hello. Omkari, who has just got this new SIM in Alexandria, knows that Ratul does not have her new number.

“Ratul, where are you now?”

“I came into contact with a group of Shaivas in Rishikesh. We traveled through Kashmir and entered Ladakh yesterday. Right now, I am in the Lamayuru Buddhist Monastery.”

“Lamayuru? This monastery and its surrounding environment are compared to the land of the moon. Suddenly entering Ladakh through Kashmir, and that too with Shaivas! If it were with Buddhists, it would be one thing.”

“Omkari, whether it is Buddhist or Shaiva, the essence is one and the same. And that is the pursuit of ancient power. Seeking that timeless practice behind a new facade. All of it is the same, many branches of one river. I have come here in search of that primordial river. Now tell me, why are you calling me so late? It’s not a common event for a water-bearer like you to call Ratul at this hour.”

Omkari slowly disclosed everything to Ratul. She feels like she is receiving some kind of spiritual guidance from within, a direction she hasn’t felt in a long time. After talking to Ratul, she feels like she is gradually seeing light through a dark path approaching her.

“Omkari, hearing everything you said, it seems that God has guided us on the same path again. I am truly astonished by everything you said. Truly, everything is predetermined. We all are working under His directive. Perhaps this time we are about to solve another mysterious chapter in the life of a great being. I had come into contact with a group of Nath Yogi Practitioners in Rishikesh. The philosophy of this community deeply attracts me. He who is Hari, is also the same as Hara. That’s why I came running to this valley of death out of the attraction of Hari. From a monk of this community, Adinath, I learned that for an eternity, the Nath Yogis have been practicing meditation at various points on our Earth. Although the origin of this community is in this holy land, they have spread all over the world. Indeed, practitioners from different parts of the world used to come rushing to this land attracted by the spirit of meditation. Adinath told me that in the past, a boy named Isha, only thirteen years old, had traveled from faraway Israel to this land for the purpose of Nath meditation. The members of the Nath Yogi community wholeheartedly believe that he is none other than the founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ. During that time, the present Sindh country and India were one and the same land. After residing for some time in Sindh, he traveled through various parts of India and eventually took refuge at the Hemis Monastery in Ladakh. When a monk of the Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Abhedananda, visited that monastery, the chief Lama showed him an ancient scripture which contained the account of Isha’s unknown chapter of life. I have come here in search of that unknown chapter of his life, because the lives of Isha and the Supreme Lord seem intertwined in some way. Among the most mysterious lives in the world, the lives of these two great beings appear to be connected by the same thread. Just yesterday, I entered Lamayuru, and today you are calling me to share all this!”

“Ratul, it felt like someone deep within was urging me to connect with you; I was experiencing a strong compulsion.”

“You continue to move forward in your own way, and I’ll proceed in mine. At some point, we will surely meet at a place where we will find the light that pierces through all darkness.” (Continues)
