Pakistan Literature Festival in Hyderabad on March 3-5

Provincial Caretaker Minister for Information, Social Protection and Minorities Ahmed Shah announced here on Saturday that Pakistan Literature Festival will be held in Hyderabad on March 3-5 on a larger scale.

Minister Information announced this while inaugurating the two-day 9th Hyderabad Literature Festival at Sindh Museum. Director General, Culture Munawar Mahesar and ex- Secretary Information Sindh Mehtab Akbar Rashidi were also present. Minister said that the writers and poets from all over the country will be invited to participate in the Pakistan Literature Festival.

Minister in his address said that 20 years ago the people in Karachi were being killed in the name of language and ethnicity, so we started these festivals through art council Karachi and began it with holding of International Urdu conference.

He said that Hyderabad was capital of Sindh in past and a few decades in past there were ethnic violence in the city. “The hatred and violence could be eliminated by the force of culture and power of literature because culture and literature are more powerful than political power.”

He said that we can connect people through Shah Latif, Shaikh Ayaz, and Ibrahim Joyo. “The culture and literature is the first line of defense against the terrorism.”

“We organized a literature festival successfully in Sukkur and we are committed to expand these festivals to district level in whole of Sindh,” he added.

Beautiful cultural performances were presented by the students at the inaugural ceremony.
