Rally taken out at Shah Abdul Latif University to raise voice for the justice; govt. urged to take immediate action, arrest the perpetrators and brings them to justice

Sukkur IBA University, Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Khairpur, (BBSUTSD) and Mehran University of Engineering & Technology Campus Khairpur on Monday observed black day over brutal assassination of Professor Muhammad Ajmal Sawand.

Faculty and students of Sukkur IBA University wore black armbands and condemned the brutal murder of a scholar of IBA University last week at Kandhkot.

The faculty paid tribute to the slain professor Dr. Sawand and demanded expeditious justice for Dr. Sawand.

Participants called for no delay in justice. “Dr Ajmal Sawand’s killing is the murder of education and murder of future of the country”, they said.

Black-Day-University-Sindh-Courier-1In Khairpur, Shah Abdul Latif University Teachers Association (SALUTA) observed the black day on the call of FAPUASA Sindh Chapter to protest the murder of Dr. Ajmal Sawand. The professor was killed due to the ongoing rivalries among communities.

A large number of participants, including male and female teachers and officials of associations, employees and students wore black armbands on their arms to show their solidarity with Dr. Sawand’s family and to condemn the heinous act.

They also participated in a rally to raise their voice against the injustice. Rally ended at the main entrance gate of the university where Dr. Akhtiar Ghumro, Dr. Hisam-u-din Shaikh, Muhammad Murad Pirzado, Hakim Ali Phulpoto, Dr. Muhammad Salih Memon, Bagh Ali Jalbani, Ms. Shahida Amir Chandio and Feroz Ahmed Phulpoto addressed.

The president and general secretary of SALUTA in their speeches, urged the government to take immediate action and arrest the culprits responsible for Dr. Sawand’s murder.

They also requested the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of the tribal disputes that have been causing unrest in the region.

The brutal murder of Dr. Ajmal Sawand has shocked the academic community, and SALUTA stands in solidarity with his family and friends.

“We demand that the government takes immediate action to arrest the perpetrators and brings them to justice. We also call upon the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to take notice of the tribal disputes that have been plaguing the region for far too long,” they said.

Prof. Dr. Rasool Bux Mahar, Vice Chancellor, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Khairpur also condemned the murder of Dr. Ajmal and said that no one can fill the vacuum of Dr. Ajmal Sawand.
