Rajasthan Sindhi Academy organizes All India Sindhi Writers and Poets Festival

Around 100 Sindhi writers, poets from different cities of India participated in literary and poetry recitation sessions; best writers were awarded with shields and cash prize

The Rajasthan Sindhi Academy organized a one-day All India Sindhi Writers and Poets Festival (Akhal Bharat Sindhi Lekhak Ain Kavi Samelan) in Jaipur on March 13, 2024. The event, which included various literary sessions and Mushairo, the poetry recitation, was held at historic Vinni Hotel located in Sanganer locality of the city.

Around one hundred Sindhi writers and poets from different cities of India participated in the Samelan, which started at 10.30am. The inaugural session was presided over by Mr. Rajkumar Masand, a senior writer from Raipur city of Chhatishgarh state, while Justice G. R. Mulchandani was the chief guest. Mr. Dholan Rahi, a well-known writer and poet from Ajmer, was invited as the guest of honor.

Jaipur-Sindhi-Samelan-Sindh-Courier-1The speakers of the inaugural session highlighted the importance of organizing Sindh Writers and Poets’ Samelan, while certificates, shields, trophies and the cash prizes were distributed among the winners of short story and drama writing competition who clinched first, second and third position. A short story titled ‘Pappy’, authored by Sameeksha Lachhwani, a young writer of Bhopal, was adjudged number one at All India level and the writer was honored with a cash prize of Rs.5000/-.

Launching of Sindhi poetry book ‘Chuhindari’, of Kishan Ratnani  (NCPSL), by Suresh Hindustani, Rajkumar Masand, Yogendra Gurnani, Secretary, RSA, Dholan Rahi and Nari Lachhwani was also performed.

Later, two literary sessions were held to discuss the importance of Sindhi language and literature. The topics of the two sessions were – ‘Speaking Sindhi language is more important than reading and writing’, and ‘The role of Sindhi literature in reforming the Sindhi society’. Various writers presented their papers while Dr. Suresh Bablani and Ms. Kamla Goklani took active part in the discussion.

Dholan Rahi presided over the poetry recitation session, which began in the evening. The proceedings of this session were conducted by Mr. Nari Lachhwani, an eminent poet and artist from Bairagarh, Bhopal. Some 15 poets, including Rajkumar Masand Raj, Kailash Shadab, Bhagwan Babani Bando, Dr. Khemchand Goklani Kheman, Kanayo Shiwani, Kanayo Ahuja Chaudhry, Dr. Kamla Goklani, Suresh Hindustani, Laxman Parsvani, Pirya Vachhani, Kishan Ratnani, Nandni Panjwani, Veena Piryadarshna and Nari Lachhwani, recited their poetry.

The most successful event came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr. Yogendra Gurnani, Secretary of Rajasthan Sindhi Academy, who also presented gifts to the participating poets.
