Blood donation camp and other programs held, rose petals showered on the statue of freedom fighter

The Sindhi community of Vadodara (Baroda) city of Gujarat state of India organized various events to commemorate death anniversary and pay homage to Hemu Kalani, a Freedom Fighter of Sindh, who was martyred by hanging during the British colonial rule.
Three different organizations held programs on January 20 and 21, 2025 at different places that also included organizing blood donation camp.
On Monday January 20, Sant Kanwar Nagar Vepari Sangathan organized Blood Donation Camp at Sant Satramdas Mandir where 402 Blood Units were collected. Main organizers were Mr. Mahesh Chhutani and Mr. Rajesh Balwani.
On Tuesday, 21st January, Sindh Cooperative Credit Society organized a program at its premises near the statue of Shaheed Hemu Kalani. The arrangements of the program were made by Councilor of Ward-6 VMC Mr. Hiro Kanjwani and his colleagues.
Same day, Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha organized a program at Sant Satramdas Mandir. Dadi Bharti Kewalramani, Mr. Parshotam Hemnani (Ex Councilor), Mr. Lal Chawla, Mr. Vasdev Golani and Mr. Murli Bhojwani spoke about the life and sacrifice of Shaheed Hemu Kalani.
Shradhanjali with rose flowers was given by all participants to Shaheed Hemu Kalani. Slogans remembering the sacrifice by Hemu Kalani for the freedom of homeland were raised in high tone by the participants.

Hemandas Kalani, known as Hemu Kalani (23 March 1923 – 21 January 1943) was a young revolutionary and a leader of Swaraj Sena, a student organization, affiliated with All India Students Federation (AISF). He was one of the youngest revolutionaries to be martyred for the nation’s freedom, executed by the British colonial authorities when he was only 19, two months before his 20th birthday.
Hemu Kalani was born in Sukkur city of Sindh. He was son of Pesumal Kalani and Jethi Bai. As a child and young man he campaigned with his friends for boycotts of foreign goods and tried to persuade people to use Swadeshi goods. He was drawn to revolutionary activities and started participating in acts of protests with the aim of driving out the British from the Indian subcontinent.
