Indian Hyderabad Literary Festival to Showcase Sindhi Language

3-Day HLF2025, starting on Jan 24 will focus on Sindhi as an Indian language known for its deep-rooted history, literary richness and contributions to India’s cultural fabric

  • Subhadra Anand and Saaz Aggarwal have a session on 26 Jan to discuss little-known aspects of Sindhi culture including literature, visual and performing arts, the global trade diaspora etc.

The 15th 3-day Hyderabad Literary Festival (HLF2025) is being organized from January 24 to 26, at Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana state of India. The HLF aims to highlight the linguistic diversity of India.

HLF 2025 is organized by “Hyderabad Literary Trust”, a registered non-profit organization, with the support of several literary and cultural organizations, and publishing houses. For the second successive year, Sattva Knowledge City, HITEC City will be the venue of HLF 2025.

“This year the HLF2025 will focus on Sindhi as an Indian language known for its deep-rooted history, literary richness and contributions to India’s cultural fabric. Sindhi embodies an enduring ethos through its oral story-telling traditions, music and scripts, serving as a bridge to India’s historical trade, spirituality and culture,” a post on Instagram says.

HLF-India-Sindh Courier-1Meanwhile, Saaz Aggarwal, a renowned author, said in a post on Facebook that the Hyderabad Literary Festival is showcasing Sindhi as its regional language. “Nandita Bhavnani and Rita Kothari are speaking on Sindhi language, literature, and history. Menka Shivdasani and Anju Makhija are launching new books,” she said.

A film by Susheel Gajwani will be screened in Sindhi with English subtitles, and he is launching a new book too.

“Subhadra Anand and I have a session on 26 Jan at 12 noon, discussing little-known aspects of Sindhi culture including literature, visual and performing arts, the global trade diaspora, the unique multi-faith worship and other facets of this fascinating community,” Saaz Aggarwal said.
