The Sindh Education Department’s Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Educational Institutions has directed all the principals and administrations of the private schools that the students should not be forbidden from speaking Urdu or Sindhi languages in the schools.
“The students should not be forbidden from speaking in the national language or their mother tongues (Urdu and Sindhi) to express themselves during the classroom or at the time of their presence in the school premises,” says an official letter circulated among the private schools of the province.
The circular, dated January 30, 2023, and signed by Ms. Rafia Javed, Additional Director (Registration) further directed the private schools’ management that mother tongues must be taught to the students through the qualified teachers of the subject.
