The pace of falling apart has accelerated

And now there is nothing left to fall off

Because all the parts are already

Fallen out with one another.

THINGS FALL APART

Although new people are riding the train

On different stations

We should not forget

The train is moving towards

Its destination

Where it’s creative energy

Will be discharged

And the train will steam out,

And given over to staff to wash it off

And make it ready for a start afresh.

Everything that has been created

Is moving adrift from the center

And depleting its energy.

Although it is moving on and on

The essential movement

Is falling off

As a man grows old every day

And one day is off

So are the objects

The sun, the moon, the earth

And the planets spinning out of breath.

How long will it continue?

When Yeats said things are falling apart

It is a hundred years or so

Have they started going back

Into their place?

Is there any effort visible to the eye

Of the things going back

Into their original shape?

The pace of falling apart has accelerated

And now there is nothing left to fall off

Because all the parts are already

Fallen out with one another.

Family gone, faith is gone,

Religion as a binding force

Has become a blinding force

Words hijacked, universities Lustified

If Vikramaditya is reborn

He too will seek dollars

And sell justice

This world has worked out of joint

Nothing can stop its march

Away from the center which is holdless.

Gods look in utter helplessness

But they are left to take care

Of a sinking ship

How slowly the titanic is going down

It has struck the hidden glacier of time

And the waters of the sea

Of nothingness are gushing in

The greatest ride of the universe

Is coming to an end.

We know the ship’s fate,

Our fate too, that we are sinking

How foolish are these joys and passions

Which turn us into enemies and scamsters?
