450 closed RO Plants of Tharparkar made functional!

450 out of 623 RO plants have started supplying water, claims an official of the Oslo Lighting Solutions Company

Mithi: Oslo Lighting Solution Pvt. Limited, a Karachi-based company, has claimed having functionalized 450 Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants in Tharparkar district that were inoperative since last two years.

Sindh government had awarded the contract of functionalization of closed RO Plants of desert district to this company following the expiry of the Rs.5 billion contract with Pak Oasis Company.

“There were 623 RO Plants installed in Tharparkar district, of which 450 plants have been functionalized and handed over to the concerned department of Sindh government on June 2, 2021,” Dr. Safdar Faruqui, an official of the Oslo company told local newsmen on Wednesday.

“The functional plants also include Asia’s largest RO plant at Mithi and all these plants are now providing water facility to the villagers,” he further claimed and added that the largest plant had capacity of two million gallon of which one million gallon water is being supplied to the citizens and now there is no dearth of water.

RO-plants-Tharparkar-Sindh-Courier-1Dr. Faruqui said that the RO Plant at Islamkot has also been made operative. “There were lots of technical and other problems when the company took over, however all the issues have now been resolved.”

He said the water is the main issue of Tharparkar and his company would make functional all the RO plants given under the contract.

It may be mentioned that hundreds of RO plants remained closed soon after installation due to technical faults and other reasons and even the salaries of plant operators were not paid by provincial public health engineering department for long and they had to observe hunger strike in Mithi town for their salaries.
